Why Does My Skin Still Feel Dry After Moisturising?

Have you ever moisturised your skin and then a few hours later feel like you need to apply more?
Me too.
For years I thought dry skin meant I needed something extra.
A stronger moisturiser. A different product.
But the more I started learning about our skin, the more I realised maybe it was not about adding more.
Maybe my skin was asking me to go back to basics 🤎
Understanding your skin barrier
Our skin is pretty amazing.
The outer layer of our skin acts as a protective barrier. It helps hold onto moisture and protect us from the world around us.
When I started learning more about skincare, one thing that kept coming up was the importance of caring for this natural barrier.
Our skin naturally contains oils and lipids (fats) that play an important role in keeping it feeling soft and comfortable.
And that changed the way I looked at skincare.
Maybe it was about choosing simple ingredients that nourish my skin.

Why I fell in love with tallow
Tallow has been used traditionally in skincare for generations.
It is naturally rich in fatty acids including oleic, palmitic and stearic acids. These fatty acids are commonly found in skincare because of their moisturising properties and the way they help leave skin feeling soft and nourished.
And honestly?
I loved the simplicity.
At balmy berry co., we blend beautiful grass fed tallow with carefully chosen oils to create a rich, nourishing balm that feels like a little moment of calm in your day.
Simple ingredients. Made slowly. Made with care.
Going back to basics
Since simplifying my skincare, the biggest thing I noticed was how my skin felt.
Softer for longer. Comfortable. Nourished.
Sometimes we spend so much time searching for the next new thing, we forget simple can be beautiful too.
And maybe going back to basics is exactly where we need to be 🤎
Stay balmy.
